We are licensed, bonded, and insured. And we have a large and very capable staff. We have a security guard at the door and she is licensed in 48 states. We bring in tables/tablecloths and risers so that we can display the items. Once we have everything displayed, we take pictures and put them on our website. We then send out approximately 8,500 emails and 100 postcards to our customers. The emails are sent without an address (which we post 6:30 the Friday night before the sale). Once the pictures are up, we price everything. We do research to see what things are selling for at fair market value. Also wanting to make sure that things are not overpriced otherwise they will not sell. On the second day of the two-day sale, we reduce the price of the items by 40%. If there are any remaining items after the sale, we can discuss what to do with them (i.e. liquidation, donation, etc.). We advertise in local papers and on estatesales.net and estatesales.org and Facebook. We put up signs Friday evening, starting at the freeway offramp using large signs and sandwich boards to get people to the house. We have a sign-up sheet at the front which we put out at 6:30 the night before. Customers put their name on the list so that our security person can call people inside in order. We do not let customers into the house with handbags or backpacks. Inside, we have a holding table with someone watching the items so that people have two hands to shop. Once the shopper wants to purchase something, we give them an itemized receipt. We take checks from people we know, cash of course, Venmo, Zelle and credit cards. We charge 40% commission to do our sales. We let in just so many people at a time to see how the crowd disburses and that it is safe. We put blue tape on any ledge or step with a “watch your step” sign to make sure that everyone is safe. Outside we have a table with blank news print and paper bags to wrap items purchased. If someone is buying furniture we take a picture and send it to one of 3 trucking companies to get the best price for our customers.
